Anxiety Part 2

Anxiety can be a hard one to overcome, simply because it can be so subtle to the outside world and so internally consuming. For mental health providers, like myself, anxiety is hard to treat because it is so personal and individual. What may create anxious feelings and panic within you another person may not even think twice about, and vice versa. -
There are some common anxieties that people may find themselves with such as social anxiety or performance anxiety. Speaking in front of a crowd, or going to a social event by yourself. -
Anxiety can also be more generalized, meaning it really is more specific to you, and you can feel anxious regarding just about anything. It also can sometimes lead to panic attacks, or obsessive/compulsive behaviors.
No matter WHAT you tend to be anxious about, usually anxious thoughts come in a loop or script that runs through your mind at the worst times and can be hard to stop or distract from. Often times these thoughts come at the worst time, like at 2 AM ( If I can sleep now I can get 5 hours of sleep, or not) OR right before that blind date (maybe this top does make me look frumpy?) The absolute worst.
If you find yourself feeling anxious often and it has interfered with your ability to do things at times, please seek the help of a mental health therapist or social worker! These tips cannot make up for a real professional working with you.
